Hello, I’m Joseph, a Cambridge-educated English Literature tutor with over 8000 hours of experience.
The students I work with are already high-achieving, but the path to the most selective universities, and the rigorous demands of GCSE, IB, or A-Level courses, requires a level of focused, individualised strategy that goes beyond standard classroom support.
To that end, my lessons focus on developing high-level essay and exam skills that are designed to maximise marks, paired with building an in-depth understanding of both texts, the exams, and their mark schemes.
Creating an environment in which students can receive sustained feedback and encouragement on their writing is key to their development, and is something that is understandably limited in group classes.
I specialise in school admissions and English literature from KS1 to 5. My success stories include admissions to Britain’s leading schools and universities, including Eton, City of London School for Girls, Westminster, St. Paul's, and Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Critical Skills
Beyond just memorization, I focus on developing core literary skills. Our sessions will concentrate on enhancing literary interpretation, refining writing skills, and sharpening critical thinking. By analyzing texts in depth and expressing ideas clearly and persuasively, students will not only improve their grades but also gain a lifelong appreciation for literature.

Exam Focus
Navigating exam boards and their specific requirements can be tricky. I can help students confidently understand the intricacies of exam requirements, mark schemes, and the expectations of various exam boards like AQA, Edexcel, and OCR. We'll work together to decode what examiners are looking for, so students can apply their knowledge effectively and maximize their grades.
